Blending in with the natural surroundings in the Wekiva River Basin is a pivotal part of developing the Wekiva Parkway. Crews are starting to plant trees and other vegetation along the parkway corridor from the State Road 429 interchange in Sorrento to the Wekiva River.

The Florida Department of Transportation is using largely native plant species when possible. Landscaping is scheduled to finish in the spring of 2023.

The westbound I-4 ramp to southbound/westbound Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429) will open as soon as Friday morning, October 21. The ramp will allow seamless travel for I-4 motorists coming from Volusia County and other coastal counties to Mount Dora, Apopka, the theme parks, and I-4 heading toward Tampa.

Motorists are encouraged to have a SunPass, or a compatible transponder, for the greatest travel savings. Those without an electronic transponder can pay their toll via Toll-by-Plate. The toll for this section for two-axle vehicles is $0.50 for SunPass and $0.75 for Toll-by-Plate, plus an administrative fee.

Remember to drive safely and obey the posted speed limit.
