SORRENTO - Crews working for the Florida Department of Transportation to build Wekiva Parkway Sections 4A and 4B are pouring concrete at night for the floodplain bridge deck. The bridge deck pours will occur over four more nights in the next month. These operations may result in residents hearing noise from the concrete pump truck, the engine from the deck screed, the concrete delivery trucks and the front end loader.
Concrete is placed at night for many reasons, including cooler temperatures, no sun, no wind, high humidity and less traffic which allows a steady delivery of concrete. If ideal conditions for concrete curing are not met, cracking of the bridge deck in the future may occur.
The next pour is scheduled tentatively for Thursday night, February 19, 2015. However, due to forecasted extreme cold, this schedule is subject to change.
All other activities are anticipated to be daytime activities.
