| The Wekiva Parkway (State Road (S.R.) 429) project will mark a new milestone this week as new roundabouts and a frontage road open along the S.R. 46 corridor in Seminole County.
This milestone means the Wekiva Parkway corridor is closer to its final footprint and configuration. Traffic will utilize a new frontage road and roundabouts to enhance safety and mobility. Once the project is complete, long-distance, through travel will be able to bypass the local traffic on the elevated parkway.
To achieve this milestone, westbound S.R. 46 traffic between Glade Road and River Oaks Circle/Wekiva Park Drive/Osprey Hammock Trail will be shifted to a new frontage road on the north side of the future parkway as early as 8 p.m. on Monday, July 12. This road is depicted in blue on the attached map.
Local traffic between Maureen Drive and Ross Lake Lane will be able to use the existing westbound S.R. 46 lane to access the new westbound S.R. 46 at Yankee Lake Road. This lane is depicted in purple on the attached map.
Along with the traffic shift, new roundabouts will open at Longwood Markham Road and River Oaks Circle/Wekiva Park Drive/Osprey Hammock Circle. The new roundabouts are depicted in yellow on the attached map. Additional roundabouts will open in the future at Yankee Lake Road and Lake Markham Road.
Motorists and residents are reminded to drive alert and follow posted signage.

The Wekiva Parkway (State Road (S.R.) 429) project is set to meet a milestone as early as this weekend - keeping a promise that the Department made to champion environmental preservation.
The upcoming traffic shift will permanently remove a section of roadway within the Seminole State Forest and reroute traffic to S.R. 429.
Old County Road (C.R.) 46A will close to through traffic as soon as Sunday, June 6, at 8 p.m. Motorists who previously traveled east on the old C.R. 46A will instead take the new C.R. 46A toward S.R. 429 and follow signs for eastbound S.R. 46. Motorists who traveled west on the old C.R. 46A from S.R. 46 will instead take the new C.R. 46A exit.
Old C.R. 46A outside the forest will be kept open for local access. The remaining roadway segments, renamed to Droty Spring Lane and Sleepy Bear Lane, will lead to newly constructed cul-de-sacs for large vehicles, such as emergency services, to turn around if needed. The new C.R. 46A alignment opened to traffic in October 2019, and the old roadway was kept open until additional work was completed to perform the shift.
The closure is a major safety improvement, as it will allow wildlife to travel through the forested area unimpeded by traffic, preventing motorist collisions with wildlife. In addition to the realignment, the Wekiva Parkway project is constructing bridges for wildlife to pass safely underneath within the protected conservation areas.

A traffic shift is planned on State Road (S.R.) 46 between Orange Avenue and Orange Boulevard overnight tonight, April 13, as part of the Wekiva Parkway (S.R. 429) project. To implement the traffic shift, intermittent lane closures are necessary and will occur in the area from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. tonight.
Traffic will be shifted slightly to the south to allow the next phase of construction for Wekiva Parkway Section 7A.

The ramps from westbound I-4 to southbound S.R. 417, International Parkway to southbound S.R. 417, and northbound S.R. 417 to International Parkway/westbound I-4 will be closed for bridge work.

- Westbound I-4 to southbound S.R. 417 (8 p.m. – 6 a.m.): Use I-4 to County Road (C.R.) 46A to Rinehart Road
