Section 3A & 3B: U.S. 441 Traffic Shifts onto New Lanes Tonight

September 23, 2019

Mount Dora, Fla. - Crews are scheduled tonight, Sept. 23, to shift U.S. 441 traffic in both directions onto the newly constructed northbound lanes in the area of State Road (S.R.) 46. The traffic shift, scheduled from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., will include relocating the signalized intersection at SR 46/US 441, to the west, below the flyover ramp bridge.

Traffic will remain in this configuration for months. S.R. 46 westbound motorists traveling to northbound U.S. 441 will use a ramp regulated by a yield sign, and, when safe to do so, will merge immediately into the through lanes. There will not be an acceleration lane for this ramp.

The U.S. 441 southbound travel lanes will shift across the median area into this new configuration from just south of Lincoln Avenue to the railroad trestle south of S.R. 46.

Electronic message boards are in place and law enforcement officers will be on site to help direct drivers. Please note this schedule may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions.

This activity is part of Wekiva Parkway Sections 3A & 3B, which began in October of 2017. Work is scheduled to finish in summer of 2020. This 3-mile stretch of non-tolled road improvements includes widening S.R. 46 and U.S. 441 to six lanes, sidewalks and other pedestrian improvements, and building a flyover ramp for the heavy traffic that will be trying to get to the parkway.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
