Nightly State Road 46 Lane Closures, Flagging Operation Scheduled As Part of Building Wekiva Parkway

September 2018

SANFORD _ Crews are scheduled tonight-Wednesday nights, September 17-19, to conduct single lane closures on State Road (S.R.) 46 from east of Longwood-Markham Road (County Road (C.R.) 46A) to west of Glade Road. Traffic in both directions will be alternated through one lane from 8:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to allow temporary paving and other work for an upcoming traffic shift.

Then on Wednesday night, S.R. 46 traffic along that stretch is scheduled to shift north onto the temporary lanes. This will allow construction on the parkway and service road in that area.

Electronic message boards have been posted to alert drivers and flaggers will direct traffic.  Please note this schedule may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions.

This operation is part of building Wekiva Parkway Section 7A. Work on this stretch along S.R. 46 from Longwood-Markham Road to Orange Boulevard began April 1, 2018, and is scheduled to finish in 2022.

Motorists should be alert for large construction equipment and vehicles moving in and out of the work zone. Drivers should obey the speed limit, all construction signs and safety devices for the safety of the public and work crews. FDOT reminds all road users to pay attention, drive with care and always buckle up.
